The Fifth Roundtable Conference on China-Africa Cooperation was held on Nov. 13, 2014 in Wanning of Hainan Province. The theme of the Conference was "Transform and upgrade for win-win cooperation". MOA Chief Economist Qian Keming attended the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote speech.
He pointed out that a strengthened China-Africa cooperation in agriculture conforms to the trend of the times, serves the practical and long-term interests of both sides, and meets the targets of respective development strategies.
In order to advance China-Africa agricultural cooperation, Qian put forward a four-point proposal: first, to establish and constantly improve a bilateral cooperation mechanism; second, to reinforce the multilateral communication and coordination on agricultural policies; third, to boost China-Africa agricultural trade and investment collaboration; and fourth, to upgrade China-Africa agricultural cooperation to a new height.
Delegates to the Conference fully agreed with Qian’s proposal, and the diplomats from African countries expressed their readiness to expand China-Africa agricultural cooperation and introduce China'sagricultural technologies, so as to promote modern agriculture development and food security in Africa.
Mr. Seif Ali Iddi, Second Vice President of Zanzibar, Mr. Jiang Dingzhi, Governor of Hainan Province, Mr. Zhang Ming, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of China and diplomats of relevant African countries attended the Conference.
